McCovey Cove is one of the coolest things about the ballpark. The fact that the park was built right on the bay is an authentic San Franciscan experience. What's so significant about McCovey Cove is that players who hit home runs that go into the cove are called "Splash Hits" and sometimes when there are really good batters hitting, there will be people in canoes and boats waiting for someone to hit the ball in the water so they can retrieve the ball! It is also really neat to walk by the cove when touring the ballpark and being able to see into the bay. It is an extremely beautiful view that makes games at AT&T park so much more fun.
